Anxiety and stress levels are rising in Canadian classrooms—enter WE Well-being, a new initiative of WE Charity that will focus on self-care among students and teachers. The program is supported by the Erika Legacy Foundation, a suicide prevention charity, and the Hudson’s Bay Co. It all began in 1995, when a dozen grade 7 students wanted to take a stand against child labour and create positive change. Twenty years later and the WE movement now hosts stadium-filled WE Days, has about 16,000 schools and groups involved in WE Schools and is kicking off new WE Family events, to help families engage in service. WE Day is going global through WE Day Connect! In partnership with Microsoft, classrooms around the world will now be able to use Skype and watch the 90-minute interactive show, held in major cities such as Toronto, Vancouver and New York.
