The 2020 Democratic Party presidential primaries are top of mind for Americans, and along with the event comes discussion around the importance of voting.

For those under 18 and not eligible to vote, this conversation may seem pointless. Not according to teens Jaclyn Corin and Cameron Kasky, who are out to change just that type of thinking.

The students-turned-activists stepped into the public light with fellow classmates last spring as co-founders of March for Our Lives. A youth-led initiative advocating for legislation in support of gun safety, the organization’s peace mandate is a direct response to the 2018 shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida. Since its grassroots beginnings, March for Our Lives has expanded across the country, using voter registration events to further their cause. Because change starts with a single vote. “Don’t be afraid to use your voice,” proclaims Kasky, with Corin quickly adding, “No matter how young you are.”

From backstage at WE Day California 2018, the two teens open up about their road to advocacy and how they want to see the youth of America come together to change the future of their country.
