What a show! Brooklyn, you blew us away. Young change-makers from across the tri-state area gathered at the Barclays Center for a celebration of good, and together they took WE Day UN to the next level.
While world leaders met in midtown Manhattan for the United Nations General Assembly, the next generation of social advocates gathered in Brooklyn for thoughtful reflection on everything from climate change to the importance of voting. With students earning their ticket to the big show through volunteer hours accumulated by way of action campaigns launched via the WE Schools program, the audience of students at WE Day were as impressive as the event’s on-stage guests.
Between energizing performances by artists including KYLE and inspiring speeches by thought leaders, from actress Jameela Jamil to philanthropist Jean Case, the lineup at this year’s WE Day UN was beyond inspirational—the speakers and performances were a revelation. Held in partnership with UNAIDS, UN Global Compact and UN Women, the event went down as one for the do-gooder books.
Youth from around the tri-state area were awarded for their year of action through the WE Schools program with a day of thoughtful discussions, covering everything from climate change to the importance of voting.
